Born and educated in Sydney, Australia, Carl’s fascination with Science and learning began at a very early age. As a child he enjoyed investigating how “things” worked and later became intrigued with the science of electronics, an interest that he actively maintains today.
As an adolescent, Carl experienced a strong calling on his working life and soon became a qualified high school physics and science teacher. Teaching in a wide variety of school settings, Carl developed a genuine love for his students and their wellbeing. He believes that the most important thing that a teacher can do is to develop a love of learning in students and that the key to achieving this is through caring and respectful student / teacher relationships.
Carl has become a highly respected educator with extensive experience gained over the past 41 years. For half of this time, he has led and nurtured two Christian school communities, achieving great success in his role as school principal.
Carl is married to Jennie and they have two adult sons, both married and currently two delightful grandchildren. The Palmers live in a beautiful rural setting in southern NSW which is in close proximity to the capital city of Canberra. Carl committed his life to Jesus in the early 70’s and he has had been actively involved in church congregations / activities since that time.
Carl has a deep passion for Christian Education and he has enjoyed significant success in his leadership of Christian Schools. Carl believes that with God’s help, all students can achieve excellence in their educational outcomes. Through the delivery of a distinctively Christian curriculum, one that successfully integrates a Christian worldview with conventional academics, each student’s educational goals can be achieved.
Carl has actively proclaimed the Gospel in Australia, Africa and many Asian countries. Apart from leading mission teams of high school students to Uganda and India, his work with ACSI has provided numerous opportunities for international speaking, particularly in relation to Christian Education.
